GCB/Tropical Springs O-40 T20- Imam Bacchus, Reliance win as E/bo Leg bowls off


The GCB Tropical Spring T20 Over 40 Tournament continued on Sunday, with the Essequibo-leg of matches played at Reliance cricket ground.

In the afternoon match, the Invader Masters having being inserted to bat, posted a challenging 112-8 off their allotted 15 overs, a reduction of 5 overs which came due to rainfall. Opening batsmen, Dharmendra Lakhan quickly attributed 38 runs from 19 balls, and their middle order batsman, captain, Devenand Mahadeo, 27, were the key contributors in their team reaching 112. Despite the challenging total posted by Invader Masters, the Imam Bacchus bowlers returned impressive figures, with Lakeram Persaud collecting 4 off 29 runs, as he gained valuable support from Fazeer Khan and Ghansham Deonarine, both of whom picked up two wickets.


In reply, Imam Bacchus’ batsmen made an admirable run chase to secure victory, as they finished the match with 7 wickets in hand off 14.4 overs with a score of 115. Instrumental to their victory was opening batsman Eishwar Singh, with an unbeaten 58, attractively comprising of 7 fours, and a six. Partner, Fazeer Khan, added 22 before falling to the hands of Bhesham Seepersaud (2-9), followed by Punraj Singh with 15 to see their team to the win.

5th Round Matches:
The tournament continues on today, Monday (November 30), with matches in Demerara. The first match at the Enmore Community Centre will begin at 09:30 hours where Regal Masters will compete against West Demerara Mavericks while the afternoon will see KV construction versus RP Construction Legends.

At the Everest Cricket club ground, Everest Masters will battle Bel Air Rubis Ultra Tec in the morning encounter which begins at 09:30 hours, while at 13:45 hours West Demerara Masters will compete against Sand Pipper Masters.
