GCB/Tropical Springs O-40 T20- WD Masters, Regal Masters gain 5th round wins

The fifth round of the GCB/Tropical Spring T20 Over 40 Tournament, continued on Monday (November 30). Over at the Everest Cricket Club ground, on Camp street Georgetown, West Demerara Masters and Sand Pipers Masters, got off to a late start, due to the inclement weather, which affected the suitability of play in the outfield prior to 15:30 hours. However, both teams were eager to get involved in on-field action, and when play began, it was Sand Pipers who were tasked with the responsibility of setting a victory target for their opponents.

However, the batting team lost their first 2 wickets in as many overs before number 3 batsman, Bhupendra Deokie stroked 20, which included 2 fours and 1 six to help Sand Pipers post 60 all out off 11.4 of their revised allotment of 12 overs. Bowling for WD Masters, Saenaraine Mathura claimed 2 for 5 from 2 overs and Sudesh Persaud 2 for 15 from 2.4 overs.

In reply, WD Master reached their victory target off of 10.4 of their allotted 12 overs, as they paced themselves to 62 for 7. Seenarine Mathura was run out for 13, while Patrick Khan and Ganesh Persaud were unbeaten on 12 and 7 respectively. Bowling for Sand Pipers, Parmanand Deokie grabbed 2 for 5 from 3 overs, Ryan Mangah 2 for 6 from 2 overs and Nandkrishna Ram 2 for 19 from 3 overs.

Earlier at the same ground, the match between Everest Masters and Rubis Bel-Air Ultra Tec was abandoned, due to unsuitable outfield conditions caused by rainfall during the morning hours.

Over at the Enmore Community Centre ground, Regal Masters gained a Walk-Over from WD Mavericks, while RP Construction Legends were rewarded for showing up by obtaining Walk-Over points from KV Construction.
